Maria Hughes is an accomplished Irish soprano with an extensive background in opera performance and vocal education. A graduate of TU Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama with an Honours Bachelor of Music in Performance, she continued her training with distinction at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, earning two master’s degrees in Music Performance and Opera. Maria also honed her stagecraft through prestigious young artist programmes, including Opera Theatre Company and Northern Ireland Opera.

She has performed with leading companies such as Northern Ireland Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, British Youth Opera, Wide Open Opera, and Opera Ireland, appearing on stages and at festivals across Ireland and the UK. Her rich, expressive voice and engaging stage presence have earned her acclaim in both classical and contemporary operatic roles.

Alongside her performing career, Maria is a passionate and experienced vocal coach, with over a decade of teaching experience across a wide range of genres and student abilities. She has worked with individuals and choirs, helping singers build confidence, technique, and artistry.
